Dolphin Quantum vs Nautilus CC Plus

Hey guys, it’s Joshua with Poolbots.com, and today we are putting the Dolphin Quantum and the Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus into the arena to see which one is the better pool robot! If you’d like to see a more in-depth review of either robot, check out our reviews on both!

Cleaning Ability

These two robots are comparable in price and have a few shared features, like dual scrubbing brushes and an anti-tangle swivel. After this though, the bots are quite different, and the Nautilus CC Plus quickly takes second place behind the Dolphin Quantum.

First let's look at each robot's cleaning ability. Both robots deliver a solid clean of your pool floor and lower walls with their dual brushes and powerful motors, but only the Dolphin Quantum can travel up the wall and clean the waterline. This is the biggest difference between the two bots, and it’s disappointing that this is a missing feature on the CC Plus because it means that it won’t clean all of your pool. This leaves you to clean the dirtiest part of your pool, the waterline, by hand.

The Quantum, on the other hand, not only reaches and cleans the waterline deeply but can move horizontally along the waterline using its Powerjet 3d mobility. This is a really impressive feature because it enables the Quantum to move efficiently and quickly to scrub all of your waterline, rather than simply cleaning one spot well.

Filter Media Options

The next biggest difference between the two robots is their filter media options. Once again, the Dolphin Quantum beats out the Nautilus CC Plus by including two filter media options. The Quantum includes both fine and ultra-fine filter options so that you can target the algae and other micro debris clouding your pool water, as well as the standard clean that gets a little bit of everything.

The CC Plus only includes the standard fine filter, which is good at picking up some debris, if it’s the right size for the filter. This is fine unless your pool is prone to algae cloudy water. Without a micro fine filter, like you’d find in the Dolphin Quantum, the CC Plus will leave you with cloudy water which can make the appearance of your pool water look murky. Plus, it’ll leave more debris for your main filter and could require more chemicals to take care of any microscopic pathogens that the Quantum would otherwise capture.

Before wrapping this battle up, we would like to note the differences in each filter’s shape and size. The Quantum has a filter basket instead of dual filter cartridges like those you’d find in the CC Plus. The Quantum’s basket is easier to clean than the CC Plus’s cartridges because its bottom can be unlatched to quickly dump debris. This is a minor difference, but an important one to note because ease of cleaning leads to cleaner filters, which in turn leads to a cleaner pool.

Conclusion

So there you have it, the champion of this comparison is the Dolphin Quantum. With its waterline cleaning made even more powerful through its Powerjet 3D mobility and its additional ultra-fine filter option, the Quantum cleans all of your pool and all the debris that comes with it. The Nautilus CC Plus simply can’t deliver the same clean because it lacks waterline cleaning and multiple filter options.
